A few months ago I was interviewed by a neuroscientist and his coaching partner about my latest motivational keynote and my work with the Mind Mirror.
It’s almost impossible to be objective about yourself, your eyes are simply facing the wrong way and you cannot see what you cannot see. We can all benefit from a greater perspective and effective coaching, even if what we discover in that relationship is not what we want to hear.
Ten years ago I dedicated myself to not only better understanding myself and my life, but to following a passion of helping people understand themselves and their lives better.
So it finally happened! After YEARS of red tape and politics, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario finally opened its doors on April 1st 2015 (no joke) and I was within the first 3 dozen therapists that received membership in this professional body!
Today marks the 35th anniversary of the passing of Dr. Milton H. Erickson, recognized worldwide as the father of clinical hypnosis and much, much more. It’s kind of difficult to prove, but I can confidently say that, regardless what style of therapy you may have been exposed to in your life, it was very (very) likely influenced by Milton in some way, shape or form.
This is my personal theory about the mind, so you won’t find this in any academic book, but then find me an academic that can inspire people to respond to them in a similar way and I might put more weight into what they think about their theory...
The discipline of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) stems from the work of Dr. Sue Johnson. Dr. Johnson's work as a marriage and family therapist has inspired many humanistic/relationally oriented therapists around the globe to do better therapy.
Things can get a little hectic if you try to do too much and don't leave yourself time to just relax, unwind and let your body calmly restore itself naturally — so remember to take time for you!
