Patient Orientation
Thank you for scheduling your therapy
This page outlines how sessions work, how to prepare, and the practical details that help ensure everything runs smoothly.
Please take a few minutes to read through this carefully before your first session.
Intake Form
Before your first session, you will be asked to complete a brief intake form.
This provides basic background information and helps ensure that our time together is focused and productive from the outset.
You do not need to overthink your responses — simple, honest answers are more than enough.
Payment Instructions
Payment is required in advance of each session.
The preferred method of payment is e-transfer, as it allows for simple and immediate processing.
You may set up e-transfer for automatic deposit using the following email: ac.rehtaewriafdivad@ypareht
To avoid delays at the start of your session, please ensure payment is sent:
- At the end of your previous session, or
- The day before your scheduled session
Sending payment immediately before your session may result in delays if it has not yet been received.
Credit card payment may be used if necessary; however, a $7 processing fee applies.
Cancellation Policy
A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged in full.
Consistency of Therapy
Therapy is most effective when it follows a consistent rhythm.
Cancellations should be made only in cases of genuine need or emergency — not because you are unsure what to talk about, feeling anxious about the session, or considering postponing the work.
In practice, sessions where there is uncertainty about what to discuss often become some of the most useful and productive.
Maintaining consistency is an important part of the therapeutic process.
Less Frequent Sessions
If you are attending on a less frequent schedule (e.g., every four weeks), your appointment time is held specifically for you.
In these cases, cancelled sessions must be rescheduled to a nearby date where possible.
If rescheduling cannot be accommodated, the session will still be charged.
Camera Setup Instructions
Sessions are conducted online and require a stable, distraction-free setup.
Please ensure:
- your camera is positioned at eye level (similar to a passport photo)
- your face is clearly visible (not shadowed or backlit)
- you are not holding your device in your hand
- your device is stable (use a stand, tripod, or books if needed)
Avoid sitting with a bright window behind you, as this will make your face difficult to see.
Session Expectations
Sessions take place in a structured, conversational format.
There is no need to prepare anything in advance.
You do not need to explain everything clearly or “get it right” — the process develops through discussion.
Sessions are typically scheduled:
- weekly
- bi-weekly
- or every four weeks
If something feels overwhelming, the pace of the work can be adjusted — rather than cancelling sessions.
Please be ready at your scheduled time. You may need to wait briefly at the start of the session, and you will be contacted shortly after your scheduled start time.
